Roles & permissions, the Ortto connector, and moving records back
Two launches — tunable roles enforced on every surface, and an Ortto connector that keeps lists and unsubscribes in step — plus 'Move back' buttons on pipelines, editable contact roles, working-hours warnings, and Marketplace under Admin.
Highlights
- Roles and permissions, everywhere. One set of role permissions now governs the web, the API, API keys and AI assistants, and admins can tune what each role may do from Settings → Roles. Full note: Roles and permissions: every screen, API call and AI assistant follows the person's role.
- Ortto connector. Push Planes lists to Ortto as tags, mirror Ortto audiences into Planes, and keep unsubscribes in step both ways. Full note: Ortto connector: lists and unsubscribes, kept in step both ways.
- Move records back. Pipelines now show "Move back" as a secondary action, and newly created pipelines come with back-transitions by default.
- Change a contact's role after the fact, straight from the Contacts card.
- Marketplace moved under Admin.
What changed
Pipelines
- Backward transitions appear as secondary Move back actions on opportunity, job and contact records.
- New pipelines and Blueprint installs generate "Back to
" transitions by default (service-visit pipelines excluded — a visit's stage mirrors the calendar and invoicing). Existing pipelines are unchanged; add back-transitions in the builder. - A contact that leaves a terminal stage (for example Lost → Prospect) is active in its pipeline again instead of staying "completed".
- Opportunities keep their close date in step with their stage; a record moved out of a closed stage loses its close date.
Contacts
- Click a contact's role on the Contacts card or on the contact's page to change it.
Marketing opt-outs (shipped with Ortto, applies to everyone)
- Turning marketing opt-out off clears only the record you edited; if the same email or phone is still opted out on another record (an unsubscribe link, a STOP reply), Planes keeps honoring it and tells you so. Turning opt-out on still applies to every record with that address.
- Every change to an existing record's opt-out is audited (who, when, how).
- Lists owned by an integration show a Synced from
badge; their member controls are disabled. - Resolving the people on a large list (recipients view, CSV export) is faster.
Scheduling
- Booking someone outside their working hours shows an amber notice listing the day and hours ("isn't scheduled to work Fridays"). It never blocks saving.
