Automations that report back, meeting recordings, and lists that remember where you were

Completing an event or task can move a record to its next stage and tells you where it landed; Circleback meetings sync onto your companies with live transcripts; lists keep your search, filters and page, Back returns you to where you came from, and list exports include each company's people.

Highlights

  • Finishing work moves the deal forward, and tells you so. Completing an event or a task can move its inquiry or deal to the next stage. You see where it landed, such as "Moved to Booked", or why it couldn't move.
  • Your recorded meetings land on the right company. Connect your own Circleback account, and meetings appear on the matching company's Conversations card, linked to the calendar event, with the transcript one click away.
  • Lists remember where you were. Search, filters, sort and page stay put when you open a record and come back. Back returns you to the page you came from, and the main lists open in your recently viewed order.
  • List exports include each company's people. One row per person at each company, with their company, job title, the company's tags and its sales stage.
  • Automation rules that can't silently break. Status values come from a list, rules left behind by renamed stages are shown, and publishing warns you before a rule stops firing.
  • What's new is here. This page, and a public changelog, now show every release.

What changed

Automations and pipelines

  • Workflows can react to an event being booked or completed on an inquiry. Booking an event can move the inquiry to its next stage, and completing it can move it again and run that stage's actions, such as sending the final invoice. See Workflows & Automation
  • Completing an event or a task tells you if its next step couldn't run, and why. The event or task is still completed, you see an amber notice with the reason and a link to the record, and your admins get a notification. When the step runs, you see the stage the record moved to, such as "Moved to Booked", and the record's page updates right away. See Teams, Tasks & Collaboration
  • The event form only offers next steps from the record's own pipeline, using the pipeline version the record is actually on. Steps that normally run automatically are marked "auto", No trigger removes a step, and where an "event completed" rule already moves the record, the form says so instead of asking. See Using the Calendar: Events & Crew Availability
  • Automation rules offer a list of valid statuses, and flag rules that could never fire. A rule watching a status you mistyped, such as complete instead of completed, shows a warning and a one-click fix.
  • The workflow builder warns you about unsaved changes. If you change a transition or stage and close its panel, select something else or publish without saving, it asks whether to save or discard the change first.
  • Pick a stage's color from a palette instead of typing a hex code. A color picker and a hex field cover anything else, and new stages each get their own color instead of gray.

Calendar

  • Month view shows each event's start and end, such as "9:00am - 1:00pm". Clicking an open slot fills in both its start and its end on the new event.
  • Week and day views show the whole day. They still open at 6:00am, and earlier or later events are a scroll away instead of hidden. See Using the Calendar: Events & Crew Availability

Meeting recordings (Circleback)

  • Circleback is in the Marketplace. After an admin installs it, each rep connects their own Circleback account under Settings → Conversations. Meetings land on the matching company's Conversations card about every 30 minutes, starting with the last 30 days. Recordings stay in Circleback. See Logging and Reviewing Client Conversations
  • A company's Conversations card has a Pull conversations button that checks for that company's meetings now, instead of waiting for the next sync.
  • Open a meeting's transcript with View transcript. Planes fetches it live from Circleback each time and never stores it. By default only the reps whose Circleback recorded the meeting can open it, and you can search within it.
  • A synced meeting links to its calendar event when the meeting is also on your Planes calendar. Click Calendar event to jump to it.
  • After installing, a Marketplace listing can show what to do next. Circleback, Conversations, Google Workspace and Ortto do.

Lists and getting around

  • Lists keep your search, filters, sort and page in the address, so opening a record and coming back, or sharing the link, keeps your place. That covers customers, opportunities, contacts, tasks, communications, conversations, invoices, billing schedules, purchase orders, suppliers, stock, inventory items, users, subcontractors, expenses and paysheets.
  • Customer and opportunity search now updates as you type.
  • Record pages have a back link that returns you to the page you came from, such as "Back to Smith Roofing". Saving a form takes you to the record instead of leaving the form in your history, and Back never lands on a deleted record.
  • Customers, opportunities, contacts and an opportunity's jobs open in your recently viewed order by default. Click a column header a third time to return to it.
  • Links in notifications, tasks, the calendar and the assistant's activity now open contacts, conversations, lists, purchase orders and invoices too.

List exports

  • Exporting a company list gives one row per person linked to each company, with their company and job title filled in, plus new company_tags and sales_stage columns. The sales stage is the stage of the company's newest open deal, or its newest closed deal if all are closed. See Tags, Lists, and Exports

Search and email

  • Contact and customer search matches full names. "Jane Smith", "Smith Jane" and "Jane S" all find Jane Smith. See Customers, Properties, and Contacts
  • Emails captured by your dropbox link to the right company more often. When the sender isn't a known contact, Planes matches their email domain to a company, using the domains of its contacts, its website and its email address. See Logging and Viewing Communications

What's new

  • Planes has a public changelog at planescrm.com/changelog, and this What's new page lists every release with the details for your role. "What's new" sits next to Help in the account menu, with a dot until you've seen the latest release.
